Intelligence officer commits suicide

A police officer working with Intelligence Security Wing in Hyderabad allegedly committed suicide on Friday evening.

K Suresh Rao, a DSP-level officer who once served as Chief Security Officer to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, shot himself with his service pistol at his office at around 4.15 pm, police said.

No suicide note was found from the scene, they said. 

The 47-year-old was having health problems and underwent treatment between July 19 and 30 at a private hospital and joined duty on July 31,

Telangana Director General of Police Anurag Sharma told media persons. 

Hearing the gunshot, Rao's colleagues rushed to his cabin. They immediately got him shifted to a local hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, said P V Ravi Varma, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Panjagutta Division).

Another officer said Rao had worked for a brief period (as part of routine duty) as Chief Security Officer to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Police were investigating the matter.
