Indian American Rajan Zed has been appointed to the Nevada state regional transportation commission citizen's advisory committee for a three-year term, reflecting the increasing political clout of the community in the United States.

This committee provides input on policy issues relative to public transportation, regional streets and highway system, and transportation planning.

The commission founded in 1979 by

legislation approved by Nevada legislature, is responsible for public transit services; transportation network; maintaining and improving road network; and anticipating, forecasting, and planning for current and future transportation needs.

Zed was elected unopposed in the last US mid-term elections to the office of general improvement district trustee of Verdi TV district in the state. He was a journalist in India before migrating to the US.
