In Bengaluru, Advani sends a subtle message to Yeddy

April 29, 2011 02:01 IST
Bharatiya Janata Party veteran Lal Krishna Advani on Thursday asked his party leaders to check their conduct and keep a clean image so that the opposition does not get the opportunity to point fingers at them.

"I feel that the BJP and the BJP workers have a big responsibility on them, that in the present situation our conduct should be always above board, absolutely above board. Nobody should be able to say that here you are committing wrong," he said, while inaugurating the party's new office-building in Bengaluru.

But analysts feel Advani's statement can also be subtle criticism of Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, who was also present at the inaugural ceremony.

Since last year, the BJP government in Karnataka has come under fire from the opposition over a string of scams.

Yeddyurappa has been accused of misusing his post and being involved in allotting state-owned plots to his relatives, besides letting illegal mining to take place in the state.
