Mohammed Mansoor Ashgar Peerbhoy, the computer engineer accused of sending emails on behalf of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen about different blasts across the country, was on Monday remanded to seven days police custody by a Delhi court.

Peerbhoy, a former employee of Yahoo, was brought to the capital by the Delhi police's Special Cell on February 28 for his alleged role in the serial blasts that rocked Delhi on September 13 last year.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja allowed the plea of the police, seeking custody to conduct fresh interrogations. Public Prosecutor Rajeev Mohan sought police remand of the accused, saying he was to be taken to Mumbai and Hyderabad to identify the places of training imparted to other accused, for carrying out terror activities across the country.

M S Khan, counsel for accused, opposed the plea of the police, stating that the accused had already been in police custody and his alleged role vis-a-vis the Delhi serial blasts had already been revealed by the investigating agency in the five chargesheets filed till now.

According to the police, Peerbhoy, 31, the alleged head of the IM's media cell, was accused of sending the e-mail minutes before the serial blasts in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
