Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's daughter, Dr Anita Bose and her husband Prof Martin Pfaff, until recently a member of the German Parliament, will be guests of honour at India's Independence Day celebrations being organised in London by the Indian Overseas Congress.

"The High Commissioner of India Ronen Sen will be the chief guest at the celebrations at the India Gymkhana in Osterley on August 18," Balwant Kapoor, president of IOC, said on Tuesday.

"We are delighted that Anita and Martin Pfaff will be joining the Independence Day celebrations. This is the first time ever that Anita has been invited to any function by an Indian organisation," Kapoor who was a freedom fighter, said in a statement.

Anita's father was not only a part of the triumvirate -- Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose -- that shaped India's Independence struggle at the defining moment, but was twice elected President of the Indian National Congress and has gone down in history as a dynamic and inspiring leader," he said.

During the function, Bose will speak on the impact of her father on the Indian freedom movement while Pfaff will offer his views on India's economic reforms initiated 12 years ago by former finance minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
