Home ministry NOT informed about 13/7 arrests by ATS

Hours after the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad claimed a breakthrough in the 13/7 Mumbai blasts case, the Ministry of Home Affairs has claimed that it was not informed about the arrests of two operatives from Bihar -- Naqqi Ahmed Washi Ahmed Shaikh and Nadeem Akhtar Asfaq Sheikh.

The Union Home Secretary RK Singh was informed about the arrests only after he called up Maharashtra ATS chief Rakesh Maria.

The home ministry is going to take up the issue of coordination within security agencies with the Intelligence Bureau and the state police.

The

tussle between the home ministry and the ATS come to light days after their were reports of tiff between the special cell of the Delhi police and the Maharashtra ATS with regards to the probe in the Mumbai triple bombings.

The Maharashtra ATS on Monday claimed to have cracked the July 13, 2011 Mumbai blasts case, in which 27 people were killed and over 130 others injured. Two people, Naqee Ahmed and Nadeem Mukhtar, were arrested and Yasin Bhatkal, who commissioned the blast and two others involved are yet to be arrested.
