Police on Tuesday arrested five Swadhyay Parivar members from Saurashtra for their alleged involvement in the NRI businessman Pankaj Trivedi murder case.

The arrested are Mansinh Vadher from Junagadh, Chandrasinh Jadeja from Rajkot, Bhupatsinh Jadeja from Jamnagar, Hitesh Chudasama, a caterer, and Dakshesh Shah both from Ahmedabad.

The US-based NRI, who had come to the city, was clubbed to death outside a private club in Ahmedabad on June 15.

Additional Police Commisioner P K Jha said while Bhupadsinh and Mansinh had actually hit Trivedi with iron rods and baseball sticks, the other three were a part of the conspiracy and had helped them flee.

He said police is still interrogating at whose behest the crime was committed. ''Maybe, the interrogations will throw up some answers,'' he told reporters at a press conference.

While Chandrasinh's name has also come in connection with Satish Rugani assault case too, the other four do not have any criminal records as such, he said.

Barring Mansinh (who was still on the way from Junagadh), the others were produced before media persons in masks. One of them, Dakshesh Shah, said he had played a ''side role'' in the murder and had no personal grudge against the victim.

He said he got involved as he wanted to uphold the ''Vedic Sanskriti'', which Trivedi was ''destroying''. When asked to specify what his exact objections to Trivedi were, he did not elaborate, and said, ''I will say it in court.''

Another arrested, Chandrasinh, refused to comment much on his involvement and blamed the media for ''highlighting the wrongs'' and overlooking the right things about the Parivar.
