Notwithstanding the political activities surrounding the alleged rape case, the Goa police on Thursday issued a lookout notice against Rohit, the 21-year-old son of Goa's Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte.

"The process of lookout notice is already on and by now the notice may have been already issued," superintendent of police (North) Bosco George told media-persons in Panaji.

Rohit is booked for raping, outraging the modesty, abetting crime and sending obscene messages to German minor girl.
Atanasio Monserratte is charged with abetting the crime as cell phone used by Rohit is in the minister's name.

The issuance of a lookout notice means that Rohit will not be able to leave the country. The police have flashed wireless messages to all the airports, ports and borders across the country not to allow the accused, Rohit, to leave the country.

Reacting to the allegations that rape case was booked without medically examining the girl,
George said that the police have sufficient evidence to bookRohit.

"Her statement is not the only evidence we were banking on," George said. George stated that the police had seized the mobile phone as well as the SIM card on which the messages were received and these have been sent for forensic investigation.

"We have also attached the passport, which proves that her age is indeed 14," he added. While police are yet to get girl medically examined or take her statement, They did record her mother's statement on Thursday.

Talking to the media, the mother said that she spent last evening with her daughter watching a movie called Babylon AD, which is likely to help the girl psychologically, to come forward and depose before the police.

The mother said that although her lawyer is in the hospital after being attacked by hooligans, she is not feeling insecure. "I have nothing to say... I have said everything in my statement, she said.
