June 17, 2015 22:04 IST

A local court on Wednesday deferred till Monday the hearing of bail application filed by corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar who is accused of mowing down two persons while driving under the influence of alcohol.

The court adjourned the hearing as the jail authorities did not produce her medical reports.

Magistrate Richa Kedkar of suburban Kurla court had earlier directed the jail officials to produce the medical reports after Gadkar's lawyers said that their client, who too was injured in the accident, was not getting proper treatment and it may cause a permanent deformity.

The jail authorities informed the court that Gadkar was taken for medical check-up but the reports were not available yet.

Gadkar's lawyers told the court that her health was their primary concern and they would wait till reports came.

Meanwhile, an official from RCF police station said police had recorded the statements of 20 witnesses so far which included eye witnesses, Gadkar's colleagues, staff of MarinePlaza hotel and Irish Bar.

In the early hours of June 10, the car driven by Gadkar rammed a taxi, resulting in death of two people including the taxi driver on the Eastern Freeway in Mumbai.
