Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Gadkari is all set to become BJP president for a second term. The BJP national executive meet on Thursday unanimously enabled the provision in article 21 of the party constitution to be amended to extend the tenure of the incumbent president for a second term.

The amendment was proposed by former national BJP president Rajnath Singh and was seconded by another former president Venkaiah Naidu. The resolution was unanimously passed by members of the national executive.

There was speculation earlier in the day that deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gopinath Munde, who does not share a good equation with Gadkari, would oppose the proposal to reappoint Gadkari for a second term.

However, Munde told rediff.com that he would be happy if Gadkari would be made president again. Munde also said that he was confident that the resolution would be passed unanimously.
