Fire on cargo ship in Mumbai

A fire broke out on a Korean cargo ship anchored at the Mumbai Port Trust on Tuesday night, naval sources said.

As per initial information available, nobody has been injured in the mishap.

Naval sources said the blaze started at around 9 pm but was put out within 30 minutes by six fire engines that were rushed to the spot which comes under Yellow Gate police station limits.

According to sources, the area where the ship 'Soorong Song' is docked at is not defence area.

Meanwhile, civic officials have informed that the fire started in the transformer of the ship.

The cause of blaze cannot be known immediately and the nature of goods on the ship is not known.

According to sources, the blaze started on the second deck of the ship, which was carrying engineering tools.
