June 14, 2014 21:59 IST

A fire broke out at the sixth floor of Shastri Bhavan in New Delhi on Saturday evening, damaging some rooms occupied by officials of the I&B Ministry.

According to Delhi Fire Service, they received a call about the blaze around 6:40 pm following which 7 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

The fire has been doused and no one was injured, a fire official said, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

After the fire, Information and Broadcast Minister Prakash Javadekar reacted by tweeting - "My alert staff informed me about the #fire in I&B ministry. Nobody is injured and all are safe. Presently I am in Pune."

In another tweet, he said, "It seems committee room and some staff rooms have been damaged. We will take stock of the damage once the fire is doused fully."

"Our secretary, officers and my personal staff are on the spot and I have asked them to cooperate with the fire brigade officials," he said in third tweet.

It is the second such incident in which fire has been reported at the office of I&B Ministry in Shastri Bhavan. On May 21, a fire had broken out at the ministry and some furniture and computer peripherals were gutted.
