April 02, 2005 23:35 IST

The police on Saturday registered cases against 11 Pakistani nationals who had come to India to witness the Mohali cricket Test but had failed to return to their country.

The Pakistanis have been charged with overstaying in India after the expiry of their visas, the police said.

The cases were registered at the Gharinda police station, just 10 km away from the international border of Wagah, on Friday evening.

The police said they had passport numbers of the missing Pakistanis.

Over 2,750 Pakistani fans had come to witness the Test match.

The Punjab Immigration Department has passed on necessary details of the missing people to the intelligence agencies.
