Dust storm, thundershowers bring relief to Delhi

June 13, 2015 16:32 IST

A sudden change in weather brought respite to the residents of national capital New Delhi as gusts of wind carrying thick dust blew across the region on Saturday afternoon.

There were reports of rainfall in some parts of the city.

The scorching sun was blotted out by the clouds and the weather cooled at around 2 pm.

"Soon after that, the city experienced a moderate-intensity storm," MeT officials said.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 39.2 degrees Celsius at 3 pm.

The weather department had on Friday predicted overcast conditions on Saturday in the national capital.

According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, it is the Western Disturbance over the hills along with the induced cyclonic circulation over south Rajasthan that has increased the pre-Monsoon activity over North India.
