February 13, 2013 23:54 IST

Bajrang Dal on Wednesday warned youths against celebrating Valentine's Day.

"We have asked the city police commissioner not to grant any special permission for Valentine’s Day celebrations. We also appeal to managements of resorts and pubs not to organise special programmes to celebrate the occasion," Bajrang Dal's city president Vinod Kumar said.

"We do not want to disturb the daily life of others. We will inform the parents of minors if we spot them," he said.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said

the police will provide adequate security at parks and other places tomorrow in the city.

"No one should take the law in their hand. Stringent action will be taken if there is any disturbance," he said.

Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission had sought a response from the police chief by February 21 on a complaint stating that right-wing organisations were threatening to forcibly marry off lovers caught on Valentine's Day.

The complainant had alleged that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal are against Valentine's Day.
