A group of Kashmiri students of the Swami Vivekananda Subharti University in Meerut have been booked for sedition by the Uttar Pradesh government after they allegedly cheered for the Pakistan cricket team against India in the Asia Cup match between the two sides.

The students were also expelled for three days after they allegedly supported the Pakistan team.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has criticised the move, claiming the "unacceptably harsh punishment" will ruin the future of the students.

Do you, our dear readers, agree that slapping charges of sedition, punishable by life imprisonment, was an unusually harsh and unwarranted step?

Or do you believe that Indians who support Pakistan over their own motherland deserve what they get?
