Disappointed Telangana leaders plan next course of action

January 28, 2013 12:02 IST

Even as calls for intensifying the stir for a separate Telangana echoed a day after Centre deferred a decision on granting statehood, all eyes are now on Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K Chandrashekhar Rao who on Monday evening is expected to chalk out the road map for the agitation in the days to come.

TRS sources told rediff.com that four Congress leaders -- Jaganathan, G Vivek, Rajaiah and P Prabhakar -- are ready to give their party another month’s time failing which they will resign from the party and join the TRS.

The TRS has already assured these four leaders a ticket in the next elections.

By Monday evening KCR is expected to direct all Telangana leaders to resign irrespective of their parties and take part openly in the protest.

Sources said that there is also a likelihood of a boycott by all government employees from the Telangana region.

The government employees from the region are in a meeting and will take this decision during the course of the day. They could decide on not to return to work unless the government announces Telangana.

In addition to this, the Student’s Joint Action Committee will also intensify their protest.

They have called for a shutdown on Tuesday and continue to protest until the issue is resolved.
