A day after it was sealed by the Delhi Fire Service, Shakuntala Apartments in Nehru Place, was on Tuesday 'de-sealed' after a fresh inspection on a Delhi High Court order found that the 12-point safety norms had been complied with.

The Delhi Fire Service on a court directive carried out the second inspection of the safety provisions and the building was declared fit for reopening, Delhi's Chief Fire Officer R C Sharma said.

The proprietors of the building had approached the high court on Monday and had informed they were taking steps to comply with the safety norms and were allowed to complete the required work for making the building operational.

"When we sealed the building, only the norm regarding exit doors remained to be complied with," Sharma said, adding that when a fresh inspection was made today these were also found to be in order and the building was de-sealed.

In the case of Pragati Towers in Rajendra Place, another building that was sealed by the DFS, the high court stayed the sealing for a week asking the owners to file an appeal against the sealing order in the appellate tribunal.

It is the second building to get such a reprieve after Hemkunt Towers in the same area was given a week by the high court to file an appeal in the appellate tribunal.

Out of the six buildings finalised for sealing, only Super Bazar in Connaught Place and Deepshikha in Rajendra Place have been sealed, Sharma said.

Guru Angad Bhawan was found to comply with the requirements when the DFS went for sealing, he said.
