A local court has awarded death penalty to three members of a family in a triple murder case.
The judge also fined the accused -- Balbir Singh and his sons Krishan and Ranjit of Anwali village -- Rs 5,000 each for the murder of Lakhan and his two sons of the same village.
According to the prosecution, Lakhan and his Mahinder, Suresh and Satbir were working in their fields on December 1, 2001, when Singh and his sons attacked them.
Lakhan and Mahinder died on the spot while Suresh succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
The reason for the murder was not disclosed, sources said.
