October 29, 2012 21:44 IST

With no fresh untoward incident been reported after last week's communal violence, the administration on Monday announced a six hour-relaxation in the curfew imposed in trouble-torn areas of the district.

The curfew was initially relaxed for four hours but with normalcy persisting during the period, it was extended for two more hours.

A similar six-hour relaxation will be given in the curfew on Tuesday also, DM Deepak Agrawal said, expressing hope that the situation will be back to normal within next couple of days.

Agrawal said essential commodities are being distributed in the violent-hit areas at controlled rates. Meanwhile, city Member of Legislative Assembly Pawan Pandey on Mondat met Agrawal with a group of persons whose properties were damaged during violence.

He said a list of shops and business establishments damaged during the violence has been forwarded to the government.

"I have personally asked the chief minister for immediate payment of some amount as interim relief," Pandey said.
