CPM politburo supports corruption, says Congress

The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala has charged the Communist Party of India-Marxist Poliburo of supporting corruption in the party by aligning with the official faction of the party in the multicrore SNC Lavalin corruption case.
The Congress state president was speaking to media persons at Thiruvananthapuram after the KPCC executive meeting held at Indira Bhawan ,the party state head quarters on Sunday. Ramesh said that the SNC Lavalin case is not politically motivated and added that it was the Comptroller and Auditor General who had submitted a report on the discrepancies found while awarding the contract to the Canada-based SNC Lavalin.
The state legislative committee which is a parliamentary body had referred the case to the sate vigilance.While the previous United Democratic Front government tried to refer the case to the Central Bureau of Investiagtion it has not accepted to take the responsibility of investigating the 'politically charged' case involving the CPM state secretary.
Chennithala further said that the CBI has started investigation into the case following a direction from the Kerala High Court. He further said that the Left Democratic Front government in the state was trying miserably to defend the accused in the SNC Lavalin case and added that the state is witnessing a state-sponsored terror programme. The Congress leader while answering a question said that the Governor had conducted himself impeccably in the case and the ministers and the government were creating a wrong precedent by criticizing the Governor.
Chennithala also said that the CPI-M has unleashed a terror psychosis among the ordinary people in Kerala. In a dig at the CPI-M ,the Congress leader said that the Governor would have been influenced the stand taken by the Chief Minister V S Achuthandan on the issue.
