Listing out issues over which the Trinamool Congress has differed with its ally Congress so far, the Communist Party of India - Marxist on Thursday asked how the two parties could continue to co-exist in the United progressive Alliance coalition and the government.
"We can't understand on which issue the Trinamool Congress agrees with the government. First, we want to know how they are co-existing," said CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury.
The TC has differed with the Congress on the issues of handling Maoist violence, price rise and the Women's Reservation Bill, he said, adding, "They differ on so many crucial issues and yet continue to remain members of the Union Cabinet as well as part of the UPA coalition".
On the women's bill, he said, "The fact that they (TC) boycotted (voting on it in Rajya Sabha), shows that they are opposed to the bill".
Yechury and his party colleague Basudeb Acharia said the four Left parties will hold a mass rally to Parliament on Friday to protest the government's failure to check rising prices and raise the issues of unemployment, land acquisition and attacks on their leaders and cadres by Maoists.
They said a call will be given from the rally to all secular opposition parties to join protests on these issues.
Acharia said the rally will begin from Ramlila Grounds and reach Parliament Street, where all Left Members of Parliament will join it after marching down from Parliament House. The Left MPs will also move adjournment motions on the price rise issue in both the Houses, he said.
