Cop injured as militants open fire in Kupwara

A policeman was injured when unidentified terrorists fired upon a police team even as a stone pelter was arrested in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A police party raided a house in Trehgam, 150 km from Srinagar, on Monday night to arrest some wanted stone pelters, a police spokesman said.

"During the raid the police party was fired upon by some unidentified militants resulting in injury to one selection grade constable Abdul Ahad in his left shoulder", he said.

The injured consatble has been shifted to hospital, he said.

However, one stone-pelter identified as Adil Manzoor Bhat was arrested from the house, the spokesman said.

He said Adil was wanted in cases under various sections of the Ranbir penal Code.
