Amid growing concerns about the relations between India and China, Chinese ambassador Zhang Yan met Union Home Secretary G K Pillai on Tuesday.

However, both officials refuted any claims that the meeting was held to discuss the growing tension between the two neighbours.

Pillai told rediff.com that they discussed about Chinese citizens' visas in India during theirĀ 30-minute meeting.

Asked if the meeting discussed issues pertaining to the incursion of Chinese troops or the Dalai Lama's visit, Pillai said no such issue was discussed.

Yan sought more time for its citizens working in various parts of India for visa conversion from business to employment. There are over 25,000 Chinese employees working in various sectors in India, which include fields of communication, power and other sectors.

Yan told the home secretary that 3000 such workers had already approached the Indian government in this regard.

Pillai said the issue raised by Yan would be convened to the Centre and added that no decision had been taken as yet in this regard.
