Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing joint military training of the Indian and Chinese armies, Major General Liu Yongxin on Saturday said it would prove beneficial to both nations to fight terrorism and help develop mutual trust.

Talking to the media after the morning drill, which started at 0630 hrs local time, the Major General said, "As both the armies train together, it provides us a chance to understand each other.

"Both the contingents were trained well and the joint exercise would help them understand each other," he said, adding that cooperation was the key word and "when we meet the next time we could see better coordination between the two forces".

The two sides went through the rigorous drill in the morning.

Explaining the exercises, Col J S Budhwar said soldiers of both the contingents were on time and they had some confidence building exercises after the warming up session.

"Such exercises prepare you for any adverse situation and a soldier gets rid of fear," he said, adding it is important for a soldier to be fearless as he goes for real army operations.

The soldiers were mixed together and they helped each other learn their skills.

Col Budhwar said one platoon from India and two from China were mixed together to carry out some of the exercises together.

"It was good to see Indian soldiers doing martial arts and Chinese trying Yoga," he added, saying the Chinese were eager to learn yoga and "our men taught them five aasanas".
