Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday launched an attack on the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre for not taking any action against black money stashed away in foreign banks.
Gadkari said, "I don't understand the UPA government's affidavit before the Supreme Court saying that disclosing the names of black money holders in foreign banks is not in the national interest. Is it because the Congress fears that it will be left with an egg on the face if their names come to the fore?"
He added, "This state is still backward, and its people poor. This is because of corruption and the mishandling of funds provided by the Central government. The Congress will face the music for it in the coming elections."
The BJP president pledged good governance and rapid economic development in the state if voted to power. He said Assam had all the resources to be on the fast track of development and what was needed proper planning and vision for development.
The BJP chief unveiled the party's Vision 2025 document for Assam's development, showing the road map it has prepared in consultation with intellectuals, professionals and the aam admi for Assam, to make it a most developed and prosperous state by 2025.
Talking about the document, Gadkari said, "Through this document the BJP is not trying to sell mere dreams to the people of Assam. This will be the BJP's agenda for development of Assam when the party comes to power either in Assam or at the Centre."
He said the 'flexible' vision document had chalked out many innovative ways to find solutions to myriad problems faced by the people of Assam. Gadkari exuded confidence over a good show by the party in teh Assam polls and vowed to put up an all-out effort to win the polls.
