CBI likely to arrest Raja, Radia

December 26, 2010 23:33 IST
The Central Bureau of Investigation may arrest eight bigwigs involved in the 2G spectrum scam, including former telecom minister A Raja, corporate lobbyist Niira Radia and key Raja aides R K Chandolia and A K Srivastava.

Highly-placed sources told rediff.com that the arrests will take place in the coming week.

This exercise of zeroing down on the eight names was done on Saturday at the high-level meeting of CBI officers, who are going to interrogate the people allegedly involved in the scam, followed by their subsequent arrests.

According to a senior official connected with this drill, CBI Director R K Raghavan has been kept in the loop. The others that may face arrests are suspected Hawala operator Mahesh Jain and Raja's associate Sadhick Batcha.

Insiders in the investigating agency are working overtime on the 2G scam probe, as the CBI has to finalise its first interim report to be presented before the Supreme Court by the end of January.
