Cash transfer would only help Cong cadre: Hazare

Anna Hazare on Monday became the latest voice to oppose United Progressive Alliance government's electronic cash transfer policy, alleging it would would just help Congress cadres and not the poor man.

In New Delhi to attend Sitaram Jindal Award Ceremony, the anti-corruption crusader said "it is not going to help poor. This thing has been brought with an eye on upcoming polls that are going to be held. This scheme will specially help party cadres, not people," he told PTI.

Hazare was replying to a question on the government's cash-transfer policy which is being touted as a 'game-changer' for UPA-II.

Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar said the youth and political class should be able to absorb both compliments and criticism on equal measure.

The Sitaram Jindal Award was presented to Late Satyendra Dubey for his fight against corruption. Former Delhi Metro chief E Sreedharan was awarded the honorary award S R Jindal Prize.
