An undertrial has been tortured with cigarette butts, and castrated by jail officials in Bihar

Arun Lal Das was tortured and castrated for refusing to pay rangdari tax.

Das, in his statement before the Purnea District and Session Judge Abdur Rahman, said he was not only physically tortured and castrated by the jail superintendent along with a jail constable, but was also mentally tortured so that he would commit suicide.

Das told this to the court when he was produced there following the court order on Tuesday.

Taking Das' allegations seriously, the court ordered to set up a medical team to examine him and submit a report on Wednesday afternoon.

He was admitted to the Sadar Hospital following the court order to the district administration to arrange for his medical treatment immediately.

Das also alleged that he was not served food for three days.

Das was in jail for over a year in connection with the murder of a jailer.
