A Bengaluru court has restrained the media from addressing advocates as hooligans or goondas. The order passed by the Principal District Judge R Budhihal states that no unparliamentary language shall be used against lawyers and they shall be referred to as advocates or lawyers only.
The Bangalore Advocates Association had moved the court seeking a restraining order on the media against the language that was being deployed in news items. Following the tussle between the media and advocates on Friday last, a section of the media had reported the incident terming advocates as hooligans, thugs and goondas.
Meanwhile the four advocates including the advocate association secretary A P Ranganath have been granted bail. The four were arrested by the police in the aftermath of the incident.
In another development, spiritual guru Shri Shri Ravishankar has offered to play mediator between the journalists and advocates in order to bring the matter to a close.
