BSF trooper injured by firing by Pak forces in Jammu

A trooper of the Border Security Force was injured in firing from the Pakistan side near the international border in Hiranagar area of Jammu on Saturday.

Intermittent firing is going on the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu region since early morning.

A senior BSF officer said Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing from small arms at "our posts in the Hiranagar area today evening, injuring a trooper who was rushed to hospital for treatment".

"Our jawans returned the fire. The firing has now stopped," he added.

A defence spokesman confirmed that intermittent exchange of small arms fire was going on in Poonch sector.

He said Pakistani troops "resorted to unprovoked fire from RPG, heavy machine gun, mortars and small arms at our posts".

"Our troops gave a calibrated response. Intermittent firing is going on this evening," he added.
