In a new twist to the strange case of the abandoned boy in Southall, London, a man in Hoshiarpur has claimed that he is his nephew.

Kuldip Singh, a Tanda Ram Sahay village farmer, claimed Gurinder Singh is the son of his younger brother Mohinder Singh.

He claimed that the boy's mother Dapinder Kaur, who is fighting a divorce case, was involved in "human trafficking" and took the boy with her to Malaysia in August 2007.

"Kaur along with Gurinder then went to France from Malaysia and later entered England in the second week of March 2008 where she abandoned the boy," he told reporters.

Kuldip showed what he claimed were photocopies of the birth and school leaving certificates and photographs of Gurinder Singh with family members.

Before a dispute between husband and wife, Gurinder was studying in Dashmesh Public School, Mukerian, and when Dapinder Kaur left the house of her in-laws in 2006, the boy also left the school, he claimed.

To prove their claim, he said family members were ready to undergo a DNA test. Earlier, a couple from Bihar had claimed him as their son.
