Now, James Bond on Her Majesty's postal service

Bond, James Bond is back. This time, the MI6 spy, who has kept Britain safe from the world's villains for years, will be serving on Her Majesty's postal service.

The Royal Mail has unveiled a set of stamps featuring covers of Ian Fleming's Bond novels.

They will go on sale from January 8 to mark the 100th anniversary of the author's birth in 1908, The Daily Telegraph reported in London on Monday.

"Fictional heroes don't come much more famous than James Bond, so it's entirely appropriate that we start our 2008 special stamp programme by honouring his creator, Ian Fleming," Head of Royal Mail's Special Stamps Julietta Edgar was quoted as saying.

Over 100 million Bond books have been sold all over the world, and six of the 14 novels Fleming wrote will be depicted on the stamps.

While Casino Royal and Dr No will be featured on first class stamps, airmail stamps will feature the covers of For Your Eyes Only, Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and From Russia with Love.

"It is a privilege for Ian Fleming's novels to be celebrated by the Royal Mail special stamps' programme. James Bond once again in the service of his Queen and country: The first of many new adventures in 2008," said Corinne Turner of Ian Fleming Publications.

Well, some more good news -- fans can also look forward to a new James Bond novel, Devil May Care, which has been written by Sebastian Faulks, to be released either later this year or early next year.
