A bomb was recovered from near the railway trackĀ in Jehanabad on Thursday, three days after the naxalite attack, sending panic waves across the south Bihar town.

District Magistrate Rana Avadhesh said the bomb was sighted by a pathway inspector just behind the police lines, one of the targets of naxalite onslaught on Sunday night. Train services on Patna-Gaya section was suspended and bomb disposal squad rushed to the site.

Avadhesh said it appeared that the bomb was left behind by the extremists during the Sunday night operation. He claimed the situation was 'absolutely under control' and there was no reason for panic.

A large crowd collected to have a look at the bomb. Asked whether the two-member administrative panel appointed by the government to probe the attack had begun its inquiry, the district magistrate said he had received no official communication about the team's visit so far.

A two-member team comprising water resources department secretary V Jaishanker and IG (Railways) A C Verma was constituted to go into the incident and alleged administrative lapses leading to the daring operation by the CPI (Maoist) rebels on November 13.
