Prakash Javadekar, spokesman of the Bharatiya Janata Party has condemned the government's decision to bow down to the demand Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, to consider pull-out of troops from Doda, Poonch and Rajouri sectors of the state.

A leading national newspaper carried the report about the troop pull-out while the other leading newspapers said that government is asking a group of ministers to examine Mufti's demand. Mufti had threatened to pull down the Gulam Nabi Azad-led Congress and People's Democratic Party alliance government in the state if the government did not accept his suggestions.

"Bharatiya Janata Party denounces the troop pull out from boundary districts of Doda, Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu region. It seems that Sh. Manmohan Singh's government has buckled under the pressure of Mufti Mohammad Sayed of PDP," Javadekar said in a statement issued by the party headquarters in New Delhi.

Its state unit president Ashok Khajuria claimed that the work of troop pull out has alredy begun and one brigade has been moved out of Rajouri sector in the state. Doda, Rajouri and Poonch are difficult areas and the terrorists have struck with vengence particularly at the village defence committees.

"Troops are being pulled out even from Kulhand of Doda district, where 19 Hindus were massacred in 2006.
Military pickets have been removed from Shatru, Daschan, Pader, Balesa, Martam, Dharmshala, Puranu beyond Kulhand. Military pickets have been asked to vacate Tanna Manchi, Manjakot, Khwas, Shahdra Sharif, Kalakot, Tarihat, Dalhori beyond Budhal in Rajouri district. Even in Poonch area the troop pull out is visible, where Military pickets are being vacated from Biji, Swarnkot, Gundi, Mandi, Chandiman, Krishnaghati, Chilas. Even from the vicinity of Poonch city the troops are being moved out," said Javadekar.

BJP has warned the government not to accept unreasonable demands of Mufti as it would endanger the security of the country.

"BJP warns the UPA government that it should not indulge into compromising the national security for political expediency. There is a definite conspiracy to force Hindus out of the area, which is notorious for cross border infiltration. Even the violence at Mendhar of Poonch district was deliberately organised, in which houses and vehicles of Hindus were attacked. This design is more visible as the security of many BJP workers was removed since last week," the statement said.

There was no official reaction to the statement issued by the BJP at the behest of the prime minister's office.
