Bill Gates arrives in Bihar on maiden visit

Microsoft chief Bill Gates arrived in Patna on his day-long maiden Bihar visit, on Wednesday morning.

Soon after he arrived, Gates, along with his team, left for Khagaria district in the state to visit a remote village and to meet the 'poorest of the poor-Mahadalits' to help them to improve their living-conditions.

Khagaria superintendent of police Sudhanshu Kumar told rediff.com over telephone that Bill Gates visited Gularia village under Alauli block in the Khagaria district, met some

underprivileged Mahadalit families, who live without basic amenities like healthcare, schools and roads.

Khagaria district magistrate Abhay Kumar said that Gates landed near Gularia village by a private jet to have first-hand information about the programmes run by Bill and Milenda Gates Foundation the condition of the villagers.

After Gularia, Bill Gates will visit Tetariya village in Banka district of Bihar.

In the evening, Bill Gates will sign a memorandum of cooperation with Bihar health department in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna.
