The Nalanda district police in Bihar rescued photojournalist Ashok Karn on Saturday evening.

Karn, a photographer for the Hindustan Times, had been abducted on December 27 for a ransom.

Police sources in Patna said that 45-year-old Karn was rescued following a raid in a village.

They said one person has been arrested in this connection, who is being interrogated.

Karn's abduction shocked journalists in the state. They took out a protest march on Saturday morning to the residence of Chief Minister Rabri Devi and demanded that the journalist be safely rescued.

The journalists had also planned demonstrations on Sunday and Monday to denounce the Bihar government's failure to locate the photographer.
