Union Minister Jaiprakash Narain Yadav's anticipatory bail plea in a case charging him with conspiracy with a police officer for facilitating the escape of his brother and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Vijay Prakash from police custody, was dismissed by a court in Jamui on Thursday.

Jamui district and sessions judge Subhash Kumar Singh, who had earlier reserved his order on conclusion of the hearing, rejected Yadav's application.

Public prosecutor Abdul Shaqui vehemently opposed the bail plea and prayed for submission of the case diary to examine charges levelled against the Union minister in two to three days before passing an order.

Yadav's counsel Ranapratap Singh charged the police with malafide and bias in dragging the minister's name in the release of his brother under a conspiracy.

Police had sounded a state-wide alert for the arrest of Jaiprakash Yadav, whose house in Jamui was also raided on Wednesday.

Chief judicial magistrate of Jamui, R K Srivastava, had on Monday, issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Yadav, Prakash, suspended officer in-charge of Khaira police station Mukteshwar Prasad, independent candidate from Jamui Ashok Ram and an RJD worker Batohi Yadav.
