A first information report has been registered against Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's nephew Krishna Yadav and his associates following complaints of extortion, official sources said.
The case was registered on the directive of Inspector General of Police, Patna, Abhayanand after shopkeepers of Raja Bazaar, Sheikhpura and Ashina Nagar localities complained that Krishna and his men harassed them for money.
Officer in charge of Shastrinagar police station, Neeraj Sinha, confirmed that an FIR had been registered against Krishna and a few others.
"Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused used to collect Rs nine from each shopkeeper and recently hiked the rate to Rs 15," he said.
