Bihar withdraws suspension of woman IPS officer

The Bihar government has withdrawn the suspension of Indian Police Service officer Ansuiya Rana Singh Sahu, who was accused of corruption, an official on Tuesday said.

“The state government has decided to reinstate her service,” Principal Secretary of state Home Department Amir Subhani said.

Subhani said the officer’s suspension was withdrawn after the approval of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Though the suspension has been withdrawn, an official at the police headquarters

said that the departmental inquiry against Sahu will continue.

Sahu, a 2006 batch IPS officer, was accused of corruption when she was the superintendent of Sheikhpura district between March 24 and September 12, 2012, an official of the home department said.

She was suspended in October last year following a recommendation from the police headquarters.

Early this month, the state government suspended senior Indian Police Service officer Alok Kumar for allegedly demanding Rs10 crore from the liquor mafia.
