Bihar MLA in Nepal's list of most wanted criminals

Bihar Member of Legislative Assembly Zakir Anwar alias Zakir Mian is among the criminals of Indian origin wanted by the Nepal police.

Lok Janshakti Party MLA Zakir Mian, as he is popularly known in Araria -- his assembly constituency located near the Nepal border -- is in a list of the 50 criminals of Indian origin wanted by the Nepal police.

Araria Superintendent of Police S W Lande told rediff.com over the phone on Friday that MLA Zakir Mian's name is in the list of criminals wanted by the Nepalese police.

"P K Karki, a police official from Nepal, has handed over a list of wanted criminals. Zakir Mian's name is in the list" Lande said.

According to police officials, Zakir Mian is wanted in connection with various criminal cases.

Lande said that he had assured full cooperation to his Nepalese counterpart in arresting these criminals, including Zakir Mian.

"I had requested the Nepalese police to come and identify these criminals," he said.

Zakir Mian has been allegedly involved in several criminal activities in Araria. In Nepal, he is wanted in connection with the kidnapping of businessman Tulsi Agrawal, among other cases.

Agrawal was released after a month-and-half of his by his kidnappers after he paid a ransom of Rs 5 crore.

The Nepal police had arrested notorious gangster Pappu Dev for the kidnapping and he is currently lodged in a jail in Nepal.
