The multi satellite operators in the Telangana region have decided to join the battle for a separate statehood. The operators have blacked out one news channel in Telangana stating that the channel was showing the movement of separate statehood in bad light.
The operators have sent out a warning to all other news channels that their telecast would be blacked out in case they continue to report in a biased manner.
These operators are now trying to shut down telecast of this particular channel in the city of Hyderabad, but are facing resistance from other operators. The Telangana operators claim that they have managed to shut down telecast in at least 60 per cent of Hyderabad and would ensure a 100 per cent black out very soon.
The activists from Telangana have been complaining for long that the media in Andhra Pradesh is largely controlled by the people from the Andhra and Rayalseema region. Their doubts were strengthened further when the Shri Krishna Commission report mentioned that the government must take steps to manage the media by giving them more advertisements so that pro Telangana reports do not appear.
Meanwhile, political leaders are yet to decide the future course of action after their resignations were rejected by the speaker of the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly.
While the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Telugu Desam Party have agreed to re-submit their resignations, it is the leaders from the Congress, who are yet to take a decision on the same.
