Bhatta-Parsaul 'rapes': Arrest warrant against SSP

October 05, 2011 14:13 IST
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has issued an arrest warrant against the senior superintendent of police of Gautam Buddha Nagar district for his "failure" to act in the alleged Bhatta-Parsaul rape cases.

NCSC Chairman P L Punia on Tuesday directed Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police to arrest Jyoti Narayan, SSP, Gautam Budh Nagar and produce him before the commission on October 25.

On August 16, the commission, after receiving affidavits from seven alleged rape victims, had asked the Uttar Pradesh police to lodge FIRs against policemen for committing the rapes. However, the commission later said that the police had ignored the order.

"The SSP was summoned four times to be present at the commission, but he never turned up. The police informed us a CB-CID probe had been ordered," the Commission had said. However, state Director General of Police Brijlal refused to comment on the matter.
