Batla House verdict a SLAP on Congress party's face: BJP

Calling Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh a "non-serious" person, Madhya Pradesh Industries Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya on Thursday said the decision on the Batla House encounter is a befitting reply to Singh, who had termed it "a fake encounter".

"It is sad that the Congress general secretary, who is a very senior and a respected leader and was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh for 10 years, talks in such a manner about such a sensitive matter. The decision is a straight slap on his party's face," Vijaywargiya said.

Referring to Singh's remark -- that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh imparts training to its workers to prepare bombs -- he asked why Digvijaya Singh, who was Madhya Pradesh chief minister for 10 long years, did not take any action against the organisation during his tenure.

Dismissing as "baseless" Congress Member of Parliament Sandeep Dixit’s charge -- that the Madhya Pradesh Food Security Scheme is merely a copy of the Centre's food programme -- he said that he would like to remind Dixit that the state had framed and implemented this scheme way back in 2008.
