Fishermen in south Gujarat have been advised not to venture into sea for the next twenty-four hours as rough weather and strong winds will prevail along and off south coasts in the state, local Met department said.

Strong winds with speed of 45-55 km/h and reaching occasionally upto 65 km/h, would continue along and off Maharashtra and south Gujarat coasts during the next 24 hours, local Met department said.

The Met department has asked all the ports in south Gujarat to hoist local coastal signal (LCS) III that indicates rough weather and strong winds.

"Sea condition will be rough...Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Sea during next 24 hours," India Meteorological Department statement said.

"The low pressure which had intensified into a depression over northeast Arabian sea off Maharashtra and south Gujarat coasts moved north-north-westwards and crossed Saurashtra coast about 25 km east of Diu in the early morning and lay centred at 0830 hrs about 70 km south-southwest of Amreli," it said.

"It would move north-westwards and weaken gradually during next 24 hours," it said.

As a result, rainfall would occur at most places, and there would be heavy or very heavy showers in few places in Saurashtra, Kutch and Diu in the next 24 hours.
