Assam government is considering imposing a ban on the All Adivasi National Liberation Army, which carried out the bomb attack on Dibrugarh-Guwahati-New Delhi Rajdhani Express on Thursday last.
Official sources informed that the state government is taking serious view of the growing activities of the AANLA that was formed in 2005 by a section of frustrated tribal youth with help from bigger militants groups, including the banned United Liberation Front of Assam and Naga rebel group, the NSCN-IM.
Besides the blast in Rajdhani Express, the AANLA was suspected to play a role in triggering street violence involving tribals in Guwahati on November 24 last. The design of the AANLA to trigger troubles in the state came to light following arrest of its seven cadres, including its deputy commander in chief, Raj Munda, by Guwahati police on December 10.
