The Assam government has asked the Centre for 600 companies from the armed forces to be deployed during the upcoming assembly polls in the state.

Assam Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) SN Singh said that the Election Commission will take a final call on whether to deploy central forces or state police or both during the polls.
