Who's on India's Walk of Shame?

August 27, 2020 08:15 IST

If California in the United States has the 'Walk of Fame', then Mumbai -- the home of Bollywood -- has a brand new 'Walk of Shame'.

While the 'Walk of Fame' is sign of honour for celebrities, the 'Walk of Shame' as you can imagine from the name, is used to shame certain people, preferably from India.

Actor Kangana Ranaut also finds her name in the 'elite club'. Tyler says that the aim is to have a list of 25 such 'most shameless' people and create a 500-metre long Walk of Shame. Ranaut, the self-pronounced leader of the fight against nepotism has recently been quite vocal, dismissing depression as a real problem among other things. Photograph: @tylerstreetart/Instagram

On this Indepence Day (August 15), the street artist had announced the launch of the 'Walk of Shame'. Tyler said the idea for such public shaming came to him around four years ago. Explaining the need for such a project, he explained on his Instagram handle, "These public figures were well-liked and celebrated for their work. We have looked up to them, supported them, and even believed in them to do the right thing. However, they have become mouthpieces for political parties and have been instrumental in spreading propaganda that causes widespread destruction, violence and stupidity".
