A Court of Inquiry has been ordered against two personnel, including a major, working with Army Intelligence after two Ethiopian girls were found at their residence last week.

The army authorities took a serious note of the presence of two foreigners at the residence of the army officer and decided to initiate a Court of Inquiry against him and his orderly, sources said.

According to initial reports, the two Ethiopian women -- Samarawit (23) and Rehal (19) -- were picked up by the army officers outside a pub in high-security Chanakyapuri and taken to their home located within Delhi Cantonment area, a restricted zone for foreigners.

It was at the complaint of neighbours that police arrived at the scene and found the two women at the residence of the officer, working with Army Intelligence.

The official, in a bid to ward off uneasy questions from the media, had maintained that the two women were being questioned by Army Intelligence in connection with a drug peddling case.

However, the army was left red-faced as investigation in a drug peddling case was out of their jurisdiction prompting the authorities to initiate a probe.

The sources said the charge against the major, who had been restrained from doing any work, was that he had entered into unauthorised contact with foreigners without seeking any prior permission.

Samarawit and Rehal, hailing from the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, had, meanwhile, been booked by Delhi police for overstaying in the country as their business visas had expired in December 2006.
