Army kills four terrorists in Kashmir

Four heavily-armed terrorists were killed in a three-day counter-infiltration operation launched by Army along the Line of Control (LoC) in Handwara area of north Kashmir, an army official said on Thursday.

"Four terrorists have been killed along the LoC in Hafruda forest area in the operation which was launched on Tuesday," the army official said. Two army soldiers were also injured in the operation, he said, adding that further details are awaited. A group of heavily armed militants tried to sneak into KashmirValley from across the border in the wee hours of Tuesday, but were thwarted by the alert troops, he said.

With this, the number of terrorists killed in counter-infiltration operations along the LoC in Kupwara district has risen to nine in the past four days. Four infiltrating militants were killed in Macchil Sector on Tuesday, while an ultra was shot dead in Keran sector of Kupwara district on Monday.

Five terrorists were killed in a failed bid in Keran sector on July 9.
